Making Your Own Baby Food

Baby Food Blender Product Review: Baby Nutribullet

When I told my sister that I wanted to make my own solid foods for my 6-month-old baby, she sent me a Baby Nutribullet (Amazon)-- well, faster than a bullet!

I want to know exactly what’s in my baby's food, but since I am not much of a cook, I need it to be easy to use and easy to clean. The Baby Nutribullet is all that and more.

The box comes with 3-piece batch bowl, motor base, extractor blade, easy-pop freezer tray with lid, 6 date dial storage cups, tip-proof tray, short cup, and stay fresh resealable lid. The smiley faces on the cups are a nice touch and harbinger of the great product.

Each piece comes apart making it easy to hand wash, put in a dishwasher and/or sterilize. The three different types of containers make it a breeze to freeze and store.

Instructions are easy to follow and even gives warnings on how to detect food allergies and gage food tolerance for your baby. The recipes are simple and easy to make, but for my first venture I cooked the brown rice before pulverizing it, instead of making a rice flour to reconstitute later. I added some of her formula as an additional liquid to make her first cereal. I microwaved the serving for 20 seconds and stirred it up well to make sure there were no hot pockets. It was barely above room temperature. The Nutribullet did not leave a single lump in the pureed cooked brown rice.

The Baby Nutribullet will grow with the baby as it gives three stages of food until she is a year old. When your baby no longer needs pureed food, you can easily use it for general household needs. The book includes recipes for mom to lose that unwanted baby weight and dad for the pesky sympathy weight.

The last recipe “strawberry cucumber cooler" -- add vodka and I think it would be a great cocktail for non-breastfeeding moms after the baby finally goes down for the night. Cheers!
