15 More Key Baby Items in the First 100 Days

The following 15 items are not as essential as my list of "25 Key Items for Baby's First 100 Days" but the following will sure make your life a lot easier if you can fit these into your budget and/or put them on your baby registry to receive them as gifts:

  1. Baby Swing: Fisher-Price Sweet Snugapuppy Dreams Cradle 'n Swing (Amazon) This is such a fantastic invention! Please read my review of this product in 100DaysBaby Reviews section.

  2. Baby Carriers: Cloth Baby Carrier (Amazon) If I didn't have this, I would not have had hours upon hours of snuggling my baby and rocking-walking her to sleep. Our baby absolutely loves being in this. And I was elated to learn that the carrier can be used up to 35 lbs - or I guess for as long as she still loves being in it!

  3. Bottle Warmer: Dr. Brown's MilkSPA Breast Milk and Bottle Warmer (Amazon) This was so helpful in the beginning as we were refrigerating milk she didn't finish and would need to bring it back to body temperature/room temperature quickly. We also bottle fed from the get-go so if you're breastfeeding, this appliance won't be as important. I'm not a huge fan of Dr. Brown's bottles but I found a lot of value and use from this Bottle Warmer.

  4. Bottle Sterilizer: Wabi Baby Electric Steam Sterilizer and Dryer (Amazon) In today's world of germs, I don't just use this appliance for bottles. I throw in pacifiers, teethers, toys - everything my baby is putting in her mouth that will fit in the bin provided. This is not a bottle washer. It simply steam sanitizes bottles you already washed and dried as well as other things you put in there. It does take up some counter space and you will always need to have distilled water available but it's worth my peace of mind knowing I'm taking an extra step in ridding some of our invisible enemy - germs!

  5. White Noise Maker: Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine, Night Light and Time-to-Rise (Amazon) I first thought this is an extraneous item and that I wouldn't really use something like this but I was wrong. We turn it on each night to set the stage for bedtime. (You use an app on your phone to control it.) Babies and children like a routine. This white noise maker let's our baby know that it's bedtime and the white noise helps her relax and fall asleep. My favorite setting is "Forest."

  6. Baby Jumper: Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo (Amazon) This is another toy that we can't do without because not only does our baby love playing in this, but it helps us out when we can put our baby in something safe and are able to have our arms free to do things like eat or get some chores done!

  7. Baby Chair: 2-in-1 Bouncer & Rocker Duo by Summer (Amazon) I have this chair because it was a gift and we have used it almost every day since we received it - and our baby is now six months old. So I recommend this chair but I think at 15 lbs, 25 inches and 6 months, she is just now outgrowing it. This is because the chair only has a waste harness. The seat belt does not go over her shoulders so if you put it on the most upright setting, an older baby can easily thrust forward and spill out of the chair and there are no straps preventing this. That is my only criticism of this product but I would still recommend this item for younger, smaller babies.

  8. Baby Lotion: A. Mustela Hydra Bebe Body Lotion (Amazon), Eucerin Baby Body Lotion - Hypoallergenic & Fragrance Free (Amazon) These are the two types of lotion I got for our baby from day one. The Mustela is not fragrance free so I was reluctant to use it but I tried it out and boy, does she love the scent! I don't think any baby loves putting lotion on more than ours. She literally giggles with delight when I use the Mustela on her. The Eucerin is the lotion recommended by our pediatrician. Anything that is fragrance free and hypoallergenic will make you doctor happy.

  9. Diaper Wipe Dispenser & Warmer: GOGO PURE Baby Wipes Warmer and Dispenser (Amazon) Our friends told us not to buy a diaper wipe warmer because the baby would get used to having the warm wipes that may not be possible when you're on-the-go. But our baby cried every time with a cold diaper wipe so we indulged her and got this for her and it was a game changer. No more crying during diaper changes! That was definitely worth the money in our opinion.

  10. Baby Closet Bins: Royexe - Storage Cubes - (Set of 8) You're not going to be hanging all your baby clothes. These bins are great for folded clothes to help keep your closet organized. They're also great for toy storage. What a great value for a set of 8 and there are lots of colors to choose from.

  11. Baby Hangers: Solid Wooden Pants Hangers (Amazon), Satin Padded Hangers (Amazon): I admit that I splurged on getting the nicest hangers I could find. But that's because I removed the doors to the closet in our nursery so everything in there is on display and I wanted it to look pretty.

  12. Infant to Toddler Play Mat: The Play Gym by Lovevery (Amazon) I can't say enough great things about this play mat. This is another item we use everyday with our baby. In my opinion, it's the best Play Gym/Mat in the marketplace. You will get value out of it because your child will use it to toddler age. Please read our review on this product on 100DaysBaby Reviews section.

  13. Bath Water Thermometer: Baby Bath Thermometer (Amazon) I don't know about the faucets in your house but it's pretty easy to get the water too hot or too cold in ours. According to the company that makes this baby bath thermometer, below 89.6°F(32.0°F) is too cold and higher than 102.2°F(39°C) it too hot.

  14. Baby Socks: Luvable Friends Baby Socks Set 1 (Amazon) Luvable Friends Baby Socks Set 2 (Amazon) If you're always putting footed pants on your baby, I guess socks are not needed. Otherwise, I think baby socks are pretty important. Keep those little piggies warm!

  15. Baby Mittens: Newborn Baby Cotton Gloves No Scratch Mittens For 0-6 Months Boys Girls (Amazon) Babies rub their eyes and scratch their own faces all the time. These inexpensive gloves will prevent that from happening. With that, we complete our list of 15 additional items for your baby in the first 100 days!
