100 Days Baby Party - Table Scape Is Everything!
The reason your 100 Days Baby celebration table scape is so important is because it will also be where you sit your 100-day-old baby for a photoshoot and it will serve as the focal point of the party!
Our table scape includes the following:
- Stacks of fruit: I used Asian Pears and Red Apples but you can use anything you want. I think stacks of round fruit work best but I've seen people incorporate a pineapple and it looked great too! The fruit is said to be good luck.
- Seat for Baby: So 100 day-old babies can't sit up by themselves. This is the best chair for the baby because it won't hide the baby's outfit. You will still need someone to stand behind the baby and hold him/her from falling out of the seat. It's called a Bumbo Seat and you can get this on Amazon
- Korean White Rice Cake: You will need to get this from a Korean Specialty Bakery. The tradition is to pass out 100 pieces to friends and family. With the pandemic, we obviously didn't do that but we could have because the bakery made a mistake and made this rice cake extra large!
- Other Korean Rice Pastries: I couldn't believe it but I found this on Amazon too. These sweet and sticky cookies are my favorite! Here's the link: Korean Traditional Cookie (Amazon)
- Regular Cake with "Happy 100 Days" cake topper: Our cake is from Whole Foods and we made our cake topper using the Cricut Dicut Machine but here are some affordable options on Amazon: Acrylic Rose Gold Cake Topper
- Flowers: To be budget conscious, we just grabbed a few bunches of different flowers but all common colors - white and yellow - from the grocery store. My sister split up the flowers into small vases and candle votives we had around the house. Keeping with the Asian theme, she stuck chopsticks in the arrangements which added some whimsy! (We also used chopsticks in our party favor bags for the kids. Read my post about the party favors and check out the photos!) Out of the same few bunches of grocery store flowers, we arranged some around the traditional rice cake - which covered up the cardboard base very nicely. - Votive Candles: I also randomly placed some votive candles on the table. Everything looks extra special in candle light!
- Photos: A couple weeks after we brought our baby home, my friends and I had a DIY photoshoot. It was so much fun and the pictures turned out looking so amazing and professional. My friend had some of them printed up and gifted them to me. I incorporated them into this table scape and I think it added another fun element. (Look for my post on how to DIY a newborn photoshoot.)
- Silver Spoon/ Chopsticks Set: This is a traditional gift to bring to a 100 Day Celebration. One of our very thoughtful friends researched this and then gifted the silverware to us - which we proudly displayed as part of our table scape. This one I found has Korean writing on it: Korean Silver Spoon and Chopstick Set (Amazon Link)
- Long Life Yarn: Having this on the table represents long life for the baby. It was a gift to us from the same thoughtful friend who gave us the Silver spoon and chopsticks. She found this on Etsy. I am saving it to use again for baby's first birthday party - which is another huge, milestone birthday in many Asian cultures and of course for American families as well.
- Cake Stands: I love using cake stands of different heights to create variation on a table scape. If everything is at the same height on the same flat surface, it's not visually interesting. Put some flowers on cake stands and place anything you want to showcase on a stand - such as the pretty cake. Again, I had these items around the house but here are some beautiful options on Amazon:
The nice thing about decorating with cake stands is that they don't all have to match. In fact, the more eclectic the collection, the better!
Your 100 Days Baby party table scape can be whatever you want. But I think including the above elements are conversation starters and adds beauty and symbolism to the day.
